Happy New Year!
Happy New Year! On behalf of the band, I would like to wish all of you a New Year filled with good health, happiness, good friends, great music, and all of the special gifts that life has to offer!
2005 was a fantastic year for the band. This was our fifth year of rehearsing an average of 45 weeks per year; we averaged 20-30 gigs per year, and performed with some truly world-class talent. (I guess the gig we did in August of ’05, with Miss Universe Natalie Glebova, could be construed as “out of this world!")
Since January of 2000, Dave Field has played bass and Eric Boucher has played piano. Since sometime in 2002, Michael Stuart, Bob Brough, or Pat LaBarbara have shared duties playing sax. We also had Hilario Duran and Bernie Senensky subbing in for Eric. It has been a thrill performing with such incredible talent and such wonderful people!
As a band, we had a lot of fun in 2005! For us, although we primarily play jazz and fusion, there are really only two types of music: “good music and bad music!” Having logged so many hours of performing together has left us in a position where the music is always fun, and to us; that’s good!
2006 is a year filled with hope! We hope to make a lot more friends through our music; we hope to play a number of major jazz festivals to share our music with those who know us and those who will come to know us; and most important: we hope to continually redefine the parameters of what is “good” and what is “fun,” so as to gain insight into what is potentially possible; and strive to reach a new heights, personally, collectively and musically!
In terms of further sharing our hope for 2006, we would also like to: Go back into the studio and do some more recording. We have fantastic new repertoire, it is well rehearsed, and we want to preserve it and share it! We would also like to play more weddings. A growing trend in wedding planning is to have a jazz trio, quartet, or quintet, perform. We have performed in all three capacities at a number of weddings and from our perspective: “to have a Bride and Groom include us in the most important day of their lives is both a privilege and honor!”
Also, rehearsing/performing with the band, pretty much all year, have been two exceptionally fine musicians: Russ Little on Trombone and Steve Cole on Guitar. Both Russ and Steve are “world-class” talents! If you have the opportunity, please make the investment and buy their respective CD releases (Russ, in the fall of ’05 and Steve, sometime in the spring of ’06)! Also, Bob Brough released a fantastic new CD back in May called: “Like a Spring Day.” I predict Juno nominations for all three CDs!
Thank you for supporting jazz. Thank you for checking out our website on a regular basis and referring your friends, and most important: Thank you very much for supporting The Dan Bodanis Band!
We wish you peace, happiness, good health, good friends, good music, prosperity, and all the great things you wish for yourselves!
Please keep in touch!
All the best in 2006!
Dan Bodanis

Hey Dan, i'm a good friend of Peter Dent. I'm a drummer and percussionist in many bands and groups in Blenheim and national bands of New Zealand. Peter gave me the link to this site, very impressive I must say!! I've always had a love for jazz music as I was pretty much born into jazz drumming right from the very beginning! I will most definately be keeping an eye out for news on The Dan Bodanis Band in the future! 20 December 2005 05:35pm - Blenheim, New Zealand |
